Jenna Rodgers – Artistic Director

Jenna is a mixed-race freelance director and dramaturg based in Calgary. She is the Dramaturg at the Banff Playwright’s Lab at the Banff Centre for the Arts. Jenna runs Chromatic Theatre, a new Calgary company dedicated to producing work by and for diverse artists. She is also an arts equity advocate, an active member of the Consent and Respect in Theatre (CART) collective; the Vice President of equity, diversity and inclusion for LMDA; and the Board Chair for Theatre Alberta. Beyond the Banff Centre, Jenna has had the pleasure of dramaturging work at the Kennedy Center, Lunchbox Theatre, Chromatic Theatre and fu-GEN Theatre. Jenna is the recipient of a 2018 Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Emerging Artists.

Recent Directing credits include: Chromatic Theatre (Winners and LosersCowboy Versus Samurai); fu-GEN Theatre (Mixie and the Halfbreeds); Workshop West Theatre (Beyond the Darkness);; Pape and Taper Theatre (Timmy, Tommy, and the Haunted Hotel); and Lunchbox Theatre (我的名字是张欣恩。, Let the Light of Day Through). She holds a MA in International Performance Research from the universities of Amsterdam and Tampere.

Kristen is a graduate of Grant MacEwan College’s Theatre Arts Program and the University of Alberta’s Bachelor of Fine Arts Acting Program. Select Acting Credits Include: On the Banks of the Nut, The Scent of Compulsion (Teatro la Quindicina), Bare: A Pop Opera (Raw Mango Theatre), Matt & Ben, Coast, The Goodbye Day (Theatre Transit), Working It Out (Alberta Workers’ Health Centre), Bone Wars (Punctuate Theatre), Apple (Sage Theatre), Flight Risk (Lunchbox Theatre).

In 2016, Kristen was nominated for an Elizabeth Sterling Haynes award for Outstanding Achievement in Theatre for Young Audiences for her work in the Sterling award winning production of ‘Under Cover’ produced by Concrete Theatre. Kristen is also a Co-Artistic Producer of the Sterling award-winning theatre company Impossible Mongoose.
