Hey Y’all! It’s been a minute. We didn’t know if we were going to be able to continue our #YYCTheatreStats with the covid-induced pause that’s been placed on live theatre… but our YYC theatre community has pulled through and created some incredible and innovative online theatre content! We are pleased to share with you a round of Summer/Fall #YYCTheatreStats (Part 1).
You’ll notice that the statistics look a bit different this time around because now we’ve included GENDER IDENTITY! We thought it was imperative to include gender identity as a part of our ongoing commitment to the The 35//50 Initiative. This is new for us and we are still learning, but we are curious and excited to see how these statistics change and grow over the five year goal outlined by The 35//50 Initiative.
As always with our statistics, we do make mistakes, so if you see incorrect information please let us know! Contact us on Facebook or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org. NOTE: This data does not reflect any diversity beyond perceived and indicated race and gender. Finally, it is important to say that representation of BIPOC folx, women, non-binary people, gender-nonconforming people, 2 Spirited folx, disabled people, LGBTQIA+ folx, and others who come from oppressed communities, mean very little if we are not committing to Anti-Racist and Anti-Oppression work in our practices. Representation is a step in the lifelong journey towards Anti-Oppression. Stay tuned for Part 2 next week!
